Until Dawn: Review Round Up

Before Rami Malek was known as the guy from Bohemian Rhapsody, he was known as Joshua from 2015’s Until Dawn. And because it’s been more than five years, nine to be exact, it’s time to take a road trip to Remake City. After making everyone terrified to go into the woods with their friends, Supermassive Games is bringing the beloved game back, but this time with a new coat of paint. With better visuals, new camera angles, new cinematography, and a reworked prologue, the Until Dawn Remake hopes to become a new Halloween staple for fans old and new. The question remains: is the Until Dawn remake worth a day-one purchase?

Review Round-Up:

In the grand scheme of things, the new content added in the Until Dawn remake isn’t all that substantial. The real selling point of the remake is its graphics, which make an already-impressive-looking game look even better. Like I said before, the original Until Dawn‘s graphics still hold up, but those who want an even better-looking game may be convinced to pay full price for the new version. Until Dawn 2024 looks absolutely amazing with perfectly detailed character models and environments. There are occasionally wonky animations, but otherwise, I came away very impressed with how it all looks. – Dalton Cooper, GameRant

This is about as faithful as a remake can possibly be. What you shouldn’t expect to find here are too many surprises. Yes, there’s that stinger of a sequel tease tacked on the end which has already set the internet alight, possibly giving us insight as to the intention of the remake, but Until Dawn is otherwise a succinctly upgraded experience of what came before. It benefits from a hugely successful reworked prologue, while the impressive visual upgrades enhance the game’s palpable sense of tension and dread. – Kate Harrold, Gaming Bible
