2024 was a fun year for gaming that offered a lot of diverse experiences. Whether you wanted to play as a Monkey Man who fought the Gods, a group of friends trying to save a country from an evil form of Government, or you just wanted to play a fun game of Poker, it was all there for you. Even more impressive was that the indie space really brought it. With titles like Balatro, Core Keeper, Minami Lane, and Lorelei and The Laser Eyes, indie studios continued to prove that you don’t need 300 million dollars to make a great game. Even more impressive is that some of the indie games I was most looking forward to last year were pushed into 2025. With that said, here are my 9 most anticipated indie games for 2025… and one other game that I just can’t quit.
Demonschool
A horror-themed, Persona-inspired indie game, what’s not to love? Regardless of scope or size, Demonschool was one of my most anticipated games of 2024 and I was disappointed when it was delayed, but I knew that it only meant 2025 was about to become an even greater year for games. I have personally tried to stay in the dark on this title as much as I can, but please check out the trailer so you can be as excited for this upcoming game as I am. (Click to Buy.)
Skate Story
If you follow indie games at all, then Skate Story needs no introduction. With its beautiful art style alone, this game has had everyone’s attention since it was first revealed. For you newcomers, though, in Skate Story you play as a Demon that’s been given a skateboard by the Devil. Your mission is simple, skate to the moon and swallow it and the Devil will set you free. I love video games. (Click to Buy.)
Pixelshire
Listen, I’m a simple man. I like games that let me farm and fish. On top of that, I’m also a sucker for customization and Pixelshire offers something that I’ve only seen from a few games like Littlewood and Animal Crossing: town terraforming. (Click to Buy.)
Streets of Rogue 2
Similar to Demonschool, Streets of Rogue 2 was a game that looked to make 2024 an even more exciting year for gaming, but the fact that it slipped into 2025 only adds to the potential great year in gaming that 2025 looks to become. Streets of Rogue 2 is seemingly one of the most ambitious games I’ve come across. The goal of the game is to take down a corrupt President (hm.) by any means necessary. And when I say any means necessary, I mean it. With Streets of Rogue 2, your options are seemingly unlimited. (Click to Buy.)
Mixtape
The Artful Escape is one of the most original, creative, and enjoyable games I’ve ever played. I went in with high expectations and it delivered on every front. So when developer Beethoven & Dinosaur announced their newest game Mixtape I was sold before I even saw the trailer. Over on Steam, the game’s description says, “On their last night of high school, three friends embark on one more adventure together. Play through a mixtape of memories, set to the soundtrack of a generation.” If that doesn’t sound like the most Chris game imaginable then you must be new here. Hi, I’m Chris and Mixtape is a Chris game made for Chris. (Click to Buy.)
Paralives
If you’re a freak like me who loves the Sims but desperately begs for anyone to challenge the long-running franchise in hopes of making the genre better, then you’re in luck. Paralives looks to be that game and as someone who has been abused and used by the Sims developers for years and years, I’m so excited to see if Paralives can be the shot in the arm this genre has needed for quite some time. (Click to Buy.)
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault
I’ve always enjoyed adventure games like Zelda or even more open-world adventures like Fallout or Skyrim, but I’m not going to lie, even as a little kid, I thought to myself, “why can’t I just own one of these shops?” My thought process was very simple. I’m going out into the world, making all of this money, and then returning to a vendor and putting mounds of gold in their pocket. I say cut out the middle man and give me my own shop. Then, as if I created reality with my own thoughts, Moonlighter appeared. Now Moonlighter is back with a sequel that looks to make everything the first game did even better. (Click to Buy.)
To Pixelia
Remember when I said Streets of Rogue 2 was one of the most ambitious games I’ve ever seen? Well, allow me to introduce you to its even more ambitious cousin, To Pixelia. (Click to Buy.)
Date Everything
I remember playing the wonderfully quirky Boyfriend Dungeon and thinking that it would be even better if I could date more than just the weapons I took into battle. What if I could date… everything. Well, thankfully my fever dreams have become a reality because with Date Everything, I can now, in fact, date everything. (Click to Buy.)
Cattle Country
As I said earlier, I’m a simple man. Let me farm and fish and I’m happy. If you want to make me even happier, let me pretend to be a cowboy while I play your game. Thank you, Cattle Country for proving dreams still can come true. (Click to Buy.)
Whisper of the House
Initially, I thought I was finished with this list until I came across Whisper of the House. I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely sure what this is. You play as a character that gets requests from the people in town to help organize and clean their homes and while doing that, you might discover secrets like hidden rooms. Everything about this says it’s a fun game, meant to help you relax after a long day at work… but then I see these secret rooms. Either way, it looks like a lot of fun and I can’t wait! Witchbrook

If you’ve been following the site for any amount of time, you already know that I can’t quit Witchbrook. It’s Harry Potter meets Stardew Valley combined with a beautiful art style and it has always intrigued me. The question left to ask, though, is with the genre having evolved and become so polished over the years with titles like Core Kepper and Fields of Mistria has Witchbrook been in the oven too long, or is the reason it’s taken so long to come out because the developers are cooking up something truly magical. While 2025 will more than likely be another year without Witchbrook, this year just wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t mention it at least once. (Click to Buy.)
