It’s been seven years since Warhorse Studios released the first Kingdom Come Deliverance. During that time, the studio managed to sell 8 million copies, released multiple highly regarded DLCs, and earned the respect of the gaming community all over the world. And with everything they’ve learned over that time, they look to direct that experience towards the studio’s next project, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Between the trailers and early previews, it seems like KCD2 could be the game that puts Warhorse Studios up there with the likes of CD Projekt Red and Larian Studios. With all of that said, there’s really only one question left to ask. Is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 worth a day-one purchase?
Review Round-Up:
The Star that shines brightest across this expanse of countryside, though, is the city of Kuttenurg. I can’t speak about this place in any terms less flattering than to say it might be one of the wonders of the modern RPG world. I don’t think I’ve ever walked the streets of a virtual medieval city that feels this huge, detailed, and most importantly, alive. – Leana Hafer, IGN
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is more than just a cunningly spun yarn with cutscenes and dialogue, however. Where the first game laid the groundwork for the impact of choices and an incredibly immersive land to venture into, the sequel expands upon this with righteous aplomb. From the very first interaction you’ll have with another character, you’ll quickly discover how intricately the element of choice is woven into Warhorse Studios’ fabric. – Miles Thompson, FingerGuns
The immersive world and attention to detail kept me hooked for the first 10 hours. But after that, things took a turn. Frequent crashes, graphical glitches and performance issues started to pile up. Early on, there were a few minor issues, but nothing that ruined the experience. However, when crashes started costing me up to an hour of progress at a time, and characters became permanently broken—one of them had a neck that was separated by a solid black line—it became harder to overlook, especially with them being a key character. – Justin Wood, CGM
