You know what’s cool? Narrative choice-based adventures. You know what else is cool? Stories that are about young kids that do things and then when they get older, have to deal with what they did as kids. Don’t believe me? IT, Yellowjackets, the remake of IT, Paper Girls, Lethal Weapon 4! Now that I’ve proven you wrong, I’ve got great news. There’s a new thing to add to the list! Lost Records: Bloom and Rage is out now, but the question… any good? Let’s find out.
Review Round-Up:
Lost Records: Bloom and Rage can’t overcompensate its sluggish developments, and that’s a shame. There is some missing spark, some tactile element that the player needs to grab hold of. Maybe the emptiness will be solved when Tape Two: Rage is released in April, but for now, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage makes for good cinema, but as a game, it needed more. – Kate Sanchez, But Why Tho?
For Life is Strange fans seeking to stoke a similarly strong connection between Bloom & Rage’s characters as that of Max and Chloe, rest assured that the move to feature a quartet rather than a core duo is a successful one. It’s another strength of the game, as it sparks more choices and additional complexity within the group as its members bond ever closer together. – Tom Phillips, EuroGamer
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – Tape 1 is a bit of a mixed bag. It’s a bit disappointing because I really liked the story of Swann and her friends, and the foundation for something great is definitely there. It’s just a shame it takes way too long to kind of get nowhere—like I said, even if you split your story in two, it still needs to follow a proper story structure. I genuinely worry that this first Tape may put people off experiencing the second. – Jordan Biordi, CGM
