Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Review Round Up

This Summer DC releases Superman, the most important movie that’s ever been released in the history of the company. If it succeeds, the next decade of superhero movies is cemented, but if Superman fails it could mean the end of an entire company… speaking of putting all your eggs in one basket, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft is essentially what we wish WB Games would have been over the last 10 years except no one can agree on if any of their games are good. Watch Dogs Legion, Star Wars Outlaws, and Far Cry are all games that someone out there thinks are really good, but sadly, when you’re a poorly run company like Ubisoft “really good” isn’t enough. This brings us to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. If the game is a 10/10 and finds millions of people who love the game, then Ubisoft is saved, but if it’s just okay and doesn’t sell well it could mean the end of the French publisher. Thankfully a bunch of talented people have written reviews to tell you just how good the game is. Time to find out if Assassin’s Creed Shadows is worth your time and money.

Review Round-Up:

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is everything I have ever wanted from an Assassin’s Creed game. Its map is expansive without being overwhelming; it’s full of things to see and do, but knows just when to let players sit back and enjoy the quiet of its staggeringly gorgeous vistas; its combat is bloody and satisfying; its stealth slick and brutal. It is an immensely polished, carefully crafted game that easily sits with the very best of what 2025 has had to offer so far. – Ewan Moore, GamingBible

Assassin’s Creed Shadows buckles under the weight of these heavy expectations. While it never collapses entirely, the strain is felt quickly and enduringly. The story is quite captivating, but the pacing is challenging. The dual protagonists help allow players to easily favor their preferred playstyles, but a lot of the open-world gameplay is imbalanced. Despite building a beautiful and lively world worthy of the hundreds of hours it could take to experience its totality, Assassin’s Creed Shadows places too many guardrails and barriers around exploration.Assassin’s Creed Shadows buckles under the weight of these heavy expectations. This man wrote a small novella. Ewan’s review is great too, but if you want an extensive breakdown on if you should play AC Shadows, Jason has you covered.)
