Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves: Review Round Up

I love fighting games. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Injustice, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Soulcalibur, and Marvel vs Capcom are all franchises I’ve put countless hours into. When I was a kid, I had a game called Rise of The Robots that I would play all the time. I was terrible at it, and as I would learn years later it was also really bad, but it had robots fighting each other and I was 7. What was I supposed to do, not play it? Also, shout out Shaq-Fu. I know the fighting game community makes fun of you but you’ll always be near and dear. But why am I telling you all of this? Well, even with my vast knowledge and love of fighting games, I’ve never played Fatal Fury. With Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, though, the franchise looks to convert the unconverted while also making long-time fans happy. Don’t believe me? Well, what if I told you they put a famous soccer player in the game? What if I told you they put a famous DJ in the game? Looks like someone’s got some apologizing to do. The question remains. Is Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves any good? Does it deserve your hard-earned cash? Well, with the help of some insanely talented people who I’m going to guess have been hard at work reviewing the game for months, years even, we’re about to find out.

Review Round-Up:

Most importantly, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ cast feels fun to learn. The movelists are not overwhelming, and the techniques are not too many to make it too intimidating to memorize everything. Additionally, the game simplifies entry for casual players with Smart Style, which eliminates motion inputs for easier controls. This approach sacrifices complex combos found in normal gameplay but ensures accessibility for newcomers while retaining a satisfying learning curve for seasoned fans. – Ricki Buzon, One More Game

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has perhaps one of the most enjoyable combat systems I’ve played in a modern FG and with the blend of strong offensive and defensive options it seems like SNK is really working to create a system that tries to force constant two way interactions. With strong mechanics and a cast that’s fun to use all around I do hope the game can really take off and find it’s place in the ever growing line up of Strong fighting games in a high point for the genre overall. – DeMandre “LetalisVenator” Pressley, Gamer Social Club
