Review Round Up

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra delayed to early 2026

Amy Hennig is one of the gaming industry’s most legendary names. She’s behind such games as Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City, Soul Reaver, Jak 3, and Uncharted 1-3. Sadly, though, since 2015’s Battlefield Hardline, Henning has had a hard time seeing a game to release with her last few projects being cancelled. This is why, when Marvel 1943 was announced, fans were hopeful that they would finally get a new game from the legendary creator. Sadly, with the delay, fans will have to wait a little while longer before they get their hands on the exciting-looking game, as it’s been delayed to early 2026. This delay marks an interesting time for the gaming industry since we now know that GTA 6 is slated for May 2026, there isn’t going to be a lot of time for games to find release windows that aren’t crowded with other titles trying to give GTA as much runway as it will need before release. With all of that said, we still haven’t seen that much of Marvel 1943, but I expect that all to change this June at the Summer Game Fest.

Jade Raymond Leaves Haven Studios

Jade Raymond is one of the gaming industry’s most legendary names. She’s behind such games as Assassin’s Creed 1 and 2, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry 4. Sadly, though, since 2017’s Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Raymond has had a hard time seeing a game to release with her last few projects being cancelled…

Unlike Hennig, though, Jade Raymond’s latest game is Fairgames, another one of PlayStation’s seemingly dead-on-arrival multiplayer shooters. Reportedly, early previews for the game aren’t good, and it seems like the previews and the simultaneous delay have led to Raymond leaving the Sony studio. I don’t like to bet against a studio or a game, but this game has never sounded good, and it’s felt like ever since Concord’s disastrous release, most of these PlayStation multiplayer titles are in so much trouble.

Bungie and Marathon are on Fire

Speaking of PlayStation multiplayer games that are in trouble, let’s talk about Bungie’s Marathon. Personally, I’ve been excited for Marathon despite the company not being willing to give a price point for the game or the game seemingly lacking the amount of launch content you might expect for something that isn’t free-to-play. Despite its flaws, I still think the game looks fun to play. That said, though, fires are starting to appear all over Bungie and Marathon, and it’ll be interesting to watch leadership attempt to put them out.

First, there were the accusations of the studio stealing art, something they’ve been accused of in the past. Hilariously, this story didn’t even make it a week before Bungie both investigated and confirmed that they did, in fact, steal art for Marathon from another artist. Talk about bringing a whole new meaning to extraction shooter. Besides stealing art, there are also reports that the game is nowhere near ready for a fall release and that plans for a Summer open-beta are being reworked to address the current state of the game.

Honestly, with last week’s story of Gummy Bears being attached to a new studio that was spun off from Bungie, it feels like Sony sees Bungie as a sinking ship that was ultimately not the company they thought they were acquiring when they purchased the studio. If Marathon ends up failing at release, whenever that might be, it could easily spell the end for the long-time studio.

The Latest Superman Trailer

Well, it happened. According to James Gunn, we finally got the first real trailer for Superman. Yep… Listen, I really liked this trailer the first time I saw it, but the more time I’ve had to think about just what the movie is, the less confident I am.

Finally, an Ironheart Trailer

I think Ironheart is either going to be like Echo, a show that no one watched and just came and went, or the internet is going to be tired of yelling about The Last of Us and put all of its negative attention towards this. Personally, I think the trailer looks fun. I liked Riri in Wakanda Forever, and I’m happy to watch her go on another adventure.

A New Movie has Appeared

Have you seen this? Have you heard of this? With a great cast and a fun story, Americana looks to be the type of movie that reminds me of a time when the theaters were filled with great original movies… like 2025.
