Welcome to Deja News, the every Monday article where I talk about the news you already know about, and if you don’t know about it, you’re welcome.

Saying Goodbye to Visceral Games

In one of the most shocking pieces of news, EA shut down Visceral Games, the studio that famously brought us the Dead Space series. Most recently, Visceral brought in Amy Hennig, the creative director for Uncharted 1-3 to work on a single player Star Wars game. Last week I wrote a rather lengthy piece that was inspired by this topic but today, instead of speculating on why EA made this decision, I think it’s important to focus on the people that worked at Visceral.

Visceral Games employed a team of incredibly talented people and they gave me and my friends so many great memories.  Whether it was my friend and I spending hours and hours laughing and having a great time with Army of Two or just me sitting alone trying to not to run out of my room in fear as I attempted to beat Dead Space, those memories will always be there. And it’s for those good times I say thank you to everyone that worked at the studio. It was an incredibly talented studio, filled with incredibly talented people that will surely continue to work in this industry for as long as they choose.

NeoGAF is… closing?

I know what you’re thinking, “Chris, who cares if a website about the main character of the Matrix is shutting down?” First off, you shut your mouth, a website like that would be awesome and also, if anyone knows of a website like that, feel free to comment below. In all seriousness though, this piece of news is not about Keanu Reeves, it’s about the infamous, yet popular (I assume) video game forum Neogaf. Neogaf has recently found itself in some incredibly hot waters as accusations have been thrown around at the site and the site’s owner. These accusations are incredibly damning and while I don’t typically do this, I thought since I have no connection to NeoGAF, but do understand the story’s importance to the gaming industry, I should just share some content from other creators who are much more knowledgeable on the story matter.

Sorry for the unusual Deja News, last week’s news was heavy and filled with a lot of gloom and doom, but don’t you worry, because next Monday will see the return of everyone’s favorite segment (I assume) Deja Views where I’m gonna let you all know my three most anticipated movies coming out in November. And of course, Halloween is right around the corner which can only mean that I’m gonna have something amazing planned for everyone’s favorite holiday. So stay tuned for this Friday when I post about something interesting (I assume).

ANYWAYS! Let me know in the comments either on the site or over on the Facebook page what’s your favorite Visceral game was? I keep mentioning Dead Space and Army of Two but let’s not forget about Cyber Tiger. That game was pretty cool. And of course, there’s all this NeoGAF stuff. What are your thoughts? Do you use the site? Have you even heard of the site? I’m curious to know what you think.
