As far as I’m concerned, the week of January 22 is the official starting point for video games in 2019. That is, at least, if you own a PlayStation. This week sees the release of the year’s first big title Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, as well as something called Resident Evil 2. If you’re new to this site or these articles, the way this works is I check out the PlayStation store every Tuesday and pick out the best and sometimes weirdest releases of the week, as well as showcasing games that are on sale. New Releases
Resident Evil 2 (1/25) $59.99
It’s been 21 years since the release of the original Resident Evil 2 and finally, fans of the beloved game can play it the way the good lord intended, with proper controls! The game has also been completely remade from the ground up featuring beautiful, if not horrifying, visuals, new gameplay mechanics done in a similar vein to the all-time classic Resident Evil 4, as well as going through a bit of an overhaul when it comes to how the story of the game is now told. January is the new October people. Time to get scared!

Wandersong ($19.99)
In recent years, we’ve had indie titles like Celeste, Oxenfree, and Metal Gear Survive remind us that video games aren’t just about explosions and zombies. Games are an art form that can make us feel sadness, love, jealousy, anger, and all of the other members of the Care Bear clan. Well, Wandersong appears to have arrived to continue that trend. Releasing last year on PC and Switch, Wandersong finally makes its way to the PS4. So players with children or someone that doesn’t like scary games, this looks like the perfect game for you.

Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal ($39.99)
Ah, the reason I’ve missed writing these articles so much. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing my small part in spreading knowledge about lesser-known titles to other players who otherwise might have missed out on a game, but truth be told, I just love knowing that weird nonsense like this is still being made in 2019. What is Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal? Let’s be honest, it doesn’t really matter what the story is. This is a game that features half-naked anime ladies doing the kung-fu. So if that’s your thing (and I swear I’m not judging) then make sure you pick this one up.
