I have fond memories of being a child and reading Wizard magazine. I would see different comic book characters, both new and old, and based on just the pictures, I would form an entire opinion on them.

“There are two Supermans? Why are they blue and red? Well, either way, they look pretty cool. There’s no way the stories associated with them are bad.”

Something else I remember from Wizard is the part of the magazine where they would do fan-casting for comic books if they were ever turned into a movie. As a kid, I thought these were incredible because the idea of a comic book movie not called Batman being turned into a movie seemed impossible. Looking back, though, a lot of this casting was lazy, to say the least. Say there was an actor or a wrestler who has been seen wearing a necklace, well, clearly that person should be cast to play a character who also wears a necklace. What about a character known for wearing a mask? Obviously, they should be played by someone, whether they have any acting ability or not, who also wears a mask. See how easy it is? Sure, it might seem a bit lazy, but in the ’90s it was a lot of fun. Thankfully, though, we all know better. No one would ever cast a movie like that in real life… Here is the current cast for the upcoming Street Fighter movie.
