Gather round, children. It’s time for a history lesson. In 1940, an archaeologist by the name of Carter Hall went on an expedition. While looking for mysteries of the past, the young man came across a crystal dagger. It was unlike anything he’d ever seen, and as he held the dagger, the energy pulsing from it caused him to pass out. While unconscious, young Carter Hall dreamed of the Egyptian prince Khufu. For those unaware, Khufu was a priest for the hawk-god Anubis. When the archaeologist finally woke, he discovered that he had been asleep for decades. The year was 1982, and he knew that the only way he would ever be accepted back into society was if he became someone new. In honor of the hawk-god Anubis, it was then that he decided to don the moniker of Hawkman, and with the help of the gravity-defying metal known as Nth Metal, he would become the greatest skateboarder the world had ever seen. What would follow would be 17 years of dominance that no one could have ever dreamed of. The man who would eventually be known as Tony Hawk dominated the scene so much that a company called Neversoft decided to make a video game about The Birdman. To the surprise of everyone involved, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater dominated the market for 9 years straight. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1, 2, 3, and 4 in particular are widely considered some of the greatest games ever made. I tell you all of this so that I can inform you that they remade Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4. That’s right! You! I’m talking about you! You can go to your local Circuit City and pick up a copy of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 and experience all of the greatness that we all once felt back when this country was a country. That said, maybe we shouldn’t be too excited. While the remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 was pretty damn good, this isn’t a series known for always delivering the goods. Maybe we’re looking at a Tony Hawk 5 situation. Who can say? Well, I’ll tell you who can say. I’ve gone to the best and brightest this industry has to offer to find out if it’s safe to return to the skate park. THIS IS REVIEW ROUND UP FOR TONY HAWK’S PRO SKATER 3 + 4!!!!
Review Round-Up:

Booting up THPS 3 + 4 feels like it did more than two decades ago on my PlayStation 2, and hopping into my first run was an evocative moment. It’s a cliche, but these games look as good as my rose-tinted glasses make the originals appear in my memories (and after watching some old gameplay videos, those rose-tinted glasses are doing a ton of heavy lifting). The same can’t be said for the NPCs, though; they still look ridiculous. – Wesley LeBlanc, Game Informer
The skating itself is the best it has ever been. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 is even smoother and more refined than its predecessor, making the skating action as lifelike as possible. Landing tricks feel fluid, and although it takes a while to master, it is pretty simple to pick up and play. There are special tricks that can be unlocked and assigned to skaters as well, scoring significantly more points than your average trick. – Kyle Foley, But Why Tho?
Last but certainly not least, if you liked what you’ve read and watched, then, by all means, head on over to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, Steam, or Nintendo eShop to pick up Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4.
