It’s in season 2 that we see Batman pushed to his absolute limit. The Enemy Within does a fantastic job of showing just what would happen to a normal person if they tried to be a superhero. Despite all of Bruce’s tech, his body still takes a beating. That’s why this season, in particular, Bruce finds himself accepting the help of others. Whether it’s Lucia Fox and his daughter Tiffany, Catwoman, Commissioner Gordon, or his most trusted ally Alfred, Batman finds himself heading down a path where making the right decision could permanently damage his relationship with the ones he loves. On top of all this, the addition of The Agency, a shadowy group led by Amanda Waller, leads to even more conflict as you are faced with a character that has the chance to become friend or foe and ruin every relationship you have in the process of figuring out where she fits.
Unlike previous TellTale games, The Enemy Within puts players in charge of a character that is carrying so much weight on his shoulders that one wrong decision could cause an entire city to go up in flames. Trying to balance your love for the city, while also making sure the ones you care about go unharmed is a near impossible tightrope to walk. Everytime players are left with an important decision to make, no matter how much it seems like the right choice, someone is going to disagree.
And as I tried to push towards making the right choices, as I tried to keep people like Gordon on the side of Batman, my attention always kept coming back to an old friend from season one. Sure, he was a little unstable, but had he not had my back, maybe Batman would have never saved the day. The worry of Gotham being burnt to ash would have become a reality long before now had it not been for John. Even with my attention being pushed towards John, Waller’s presence and importance in the Gotham is something that can’t be forgotten about.
