If you haven’t been able to tell yet, so many of these characters really are Batman if he had a bad day. While Amanda Waller isn’t out in the streets fighting crime herself, she is doing it in her own unique way. For those familiar with Waller from the comics and a recent movie that shall go unnamed, Waller is very fond of rounding up her own group of “heroes” and having them do her bidding. As far as she’s concerned, what she’s doing is the right thing. Unlike Freeze or Harley Quinn, Waller isn’t trying to do this for her own personal gain. She’s doing this because she thinks it’s what’s best for everyone… or at least that’s what she’d have you believe. Whether there’s anything mischievous going on behind the scenes with Waller and the agency is up to you to discover and decide for yourself.
I think this entire rundown of what Waller’s all about really helps explain just why the story being told is something special. In season one of TellTale’s story, players were faced with twists and turns. They were asked to make hard decisions that might upset the ones that you cared about the most. At the end of the day though, it’s a TellTale game and these types of moments, great they may be, are what’s to be expected. In Season 2, by adding Waller, they’ve created a character that is either your toughest adversary or greatest ally.
In season 2, the choices that players will be forced to make will lead to events that will feel unique and personal for the player making those choices. This isn’t just as simple click this box and go here, it’s decisions that, if handled correctly, will hopefully lead to a season 3 that will be like any other TellTale game we’ve seen before. And a lot of that has to do with the introduction of the Amanda Waller character. Choosing to make her your enemy could have long ramifications for the story yet to be told, and yet, making her your ally could mean becoming a version of Batman that you never thought possible.
